77-year-old woman dies in HAZMAT crash

Some collisions are extremely dangerous, like this one that involved hazardous materials leaking onto the roadway. Tanks and trucks are heavy, which means that a driver who loses control could quickly end up harming someone. The vehicle could roll, pinning people inside their vehicles. With hazardous materials added to the crash, people could be burned or suffer awful side effects.

Fortunately, the hazardous materials involved in this collision were able to be cleaned up without harming anyone. According to a report from April 9, a collision involving an anhydrous-loaded truck and two other vehicles led to at least one death after the truck overturned onto one of the smaller cars.

The authorities reported that the crash happened at Purdom Road when a GMC pickup truck pulling two anhydrous tanks failed to slow down for a mail carrier. This led to a rear-end collision and forced the pickup truck to swerve into the eastbound lanes. The truck swerved several times, but it eventually overturned onto a Buick in the westbound lanes. Inside, a 77-year-old woman was killed.

Route 104 and Purdom Road were closed as a result of the collision. It's not clear if anyone else was hurt, but hazardous materials were leaked onto the roadway.

A wrongful death shouldn't happen, and it's devastating for the families of those who have been lost. It's within their rights to pursue a claim against those who caused a collision, so that they can receive fair compensation. Compensation may not replace those they've lost, but it can help cover the expenses related to their loved one's death.
