A woman from Illinois passed away in a motorcycle accident while in Kenosha County, Wisconsin. The chain-reaction crash left five people with injuries.
The entire group of riders was from Illinois, and they were driving south on Highway W right around 6:30 p.m. At the front of the pack was a man on a 2006 Harley-Davidson.
As the group got to a curve in the road, that lead driver lost control of his bike. This caused his vehicle to flip over and slide into another motorcycle, this one a 2010 Harley-Davidson. There were two people on that bike. Next, a 1998 Kawasaki slammed into the pileup and crashed.
The woman who was riding along as a passenger on the second Harley-Davidson was seriously injured. Emergency crews were called, and a Flight for Life helicopter got there as quickly as possible by setting down in a parking lot. Unfortunately, it was too late and the woman died at the scene.
The exact nature of the other injuries is not known, but reports claimed that some injuries were significant and others were more minor.
The police did close the highway down so that they could carry out an extensive investigation. As of the latest reports, the one factor they have identified so far is speed, which may have caused that first bike to go out of control and start the domino effect as the group crashed.
