A woman in Illinois lost her life in a car accident, and all six of her children had to be taken to the hospital with injuries. Now, people in the area are pointing out that the road sees far too many accidents and they’re asking for changes to be made.
The crash happened in the intersection between Veterans Parkway and Illinois 3. The woman was in an SUV, which was hit by a dump truck. She was 46 years old at the time.
Thousands of people who live in the area are now speaking out. They say that reckless driving, traffic congestion and high speed limits make that stretch of the road incredibly dangerous, leading to many serious accidents. They want to know what can be done to prevent further tragedies.
The woman who organized the group started her effort back in 2015. Another wreck at the exact same intersection led to serious injuries that were almost fatal. Others have joined over the years, with some saying that these accidents are only growing more common.
The police have pointed out that the traffic signals are set up properly, with all of the lights synced up. Ideally, if someone drives right at the speed limit, he or she will make it through every single green light. This should reduce accidents and congestion. However, the police chief claims the problem is speeding, which means cars are no longed synced with those lights.
Problems like this are difficult to solve, and serious accidents will continue. It’s important for those who get hurt to know all of their legal options.
